Children attending the Bathurst Villlage Elementary School between the ages of 3 and 12 are currently attending classes outdoors, under the shade of trees, without any proper facilities. The Krio Descendants Union (KDU) Maryland, in collaboration with the Bathurst Community, is embarking on a vital mission to expand the village's only school. By constructing six additional classrooms, they aim to address the challenges of overcrowding and provide a conducive learning environment for the children. This joint initiative demonstrates the power of collective action and the commitment of KDU-Maryland to the welfare and educational advancement of the village's children.

Krio Descendants Union (KDU) Maryland, in collaboration with the Bathurst Community, is undertaking a significant project to address the pressing issue of overcrowding in the village's only school. This school, which was established in 1818 in the picturesque mountain village of Bathurst in Sierra Leone, has been grappling with a growing population in recent years. As a result, children between the ages of 3 and 12 are currently attending classes outdoors, under the shade of trees, without any proper facilities.
Recognizing the urgent need to provide a conducive learning environment for the village's young learners, the KDU Maryland and Bathurst Community have come together to build six additional classrooms. These new classrooms will cater to the increasing population and ensure that every child in the village has access to quality education.
The construction of these additional classrooms marks a significant milestone in the village's educational development. It reflects the commitment of the KDU Maryland and the Bathurst Community to invest in the future of their children and empower them with the knowledge and skills necessary for a brighter tomorrow.
Once completed, these additional classrooms will alleviate the overcrowding issue and provide a safe and comfortable space for the students to learn. No longer will they have to endure the challenges of studying outdoors, exposed to the elements. The new classrooms will be equipped with modern amenities, including desks, chairs, and a conducive learning environment that will foster creativity and academic excellence.
